You understand that this is an application, and not a registration. A limited number of applicants will be accepted to attend Camp Sunnah, solely at the discretion of NYM Ink and the Camp Sunnah Selection Committee.
While the Selection Committee will accept applicants based on specific criteria, you understand that acceptance is at the sole discretion of NYM Ink and the Selection committee, and that all decisions are final.
An example of the criteria the Selection Committee are looking for are as follows:
Energetic Muslims, both men and women, above the age of 18 interested in developing leadership skills to better society.
Muslims with a positive attitude striving to incorporate Islamic values in their lives.
Thorough and full completion of the online application.
Applicants applying along with spouses or family members may be given preference.
Due to the additional requirements the camp must take during the COVD-19 pandemic, Camp Sunnah 2020 is only open to NYM Ink members (and their mahrams) at this time.
Applications must be submitted by Midnight (MST), July 6th, 2020.
Applicants who are chosen and invited to Camp Sunnah will be contacted via email on or before July 12th, 2020.
Applicants may be placed on a waiting list. In the event an applicant is unable to attend the camp, another applicant may be chosen from the waiting list. This applicant has 48 hours to respond and pay camp registration fees before their spot is forfeit and given to someone else on the waiting list.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, successful applicants may be required to take additional steps prior to coming to the camp, including COVID-19 testing.
Accepted and Paid spots for Camp Sunnah are Non-Transferable.
Camp Sunnah takes place from August 17th to August 23rd. 2020. You understand and agree that you must be in attendance for all days of the camp.
Your application must be filled with your real information. Your name must match government issued ID, and will be checked prior to admittance to the camp. Fake names, aliases, and other false information will disqualify you from the camp.
The current COVID-19 pandemic obviously creates challenges for hosting and attending a camp. Our main priority is the health and safety of the camp attendees and volunteers, and we will be following Alberta Health Services and Alberta provincial guidelines.
As such, please be aware there may be additional steps to attending the camp, including confirmation of COVID-19 testing. The camp may also be structured and changed to suite the current guidelines and ensure everyone’s safety. You agree to follow all health and safety protocols of the camp.
The current and future status of Alberta’s relaunch plan has allowed us to plan for hosting the camp, however this may change in the near future. This includes having to suspend the camp with the emergence of a second wave. If you have any questions on the current status of the camp, please contact us.
The cost of attending Camp Sunnah is $450.00.
Once your application has been accepted, fees must be paid by the stated time in your acceptance email. Failure to pay by the stated time will result in you forfeiting your spot.

Once paid, no refunds will be given.
Participants must use the transportation provided by NYM Ink. No other mode of transportation to or from the camp will be permitted. Based on your origin city, a departure city will be assigned to you, which you must use. The departure cities are Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Saskatoon.
Camp Sunnah is designed for adults 18 years of age and over. NYM Ink cannot be held responsible for providing supervision of any kind.
Participants are expected to follow proper Islamic behaviour and be courteous and respectful guests. Proper respect and consideration must be given to all fellow camp attendees.
Participants must listen to camp leaders and partake in the full program.
Smoking, including vaping, is prohibited at the camp.
Illegal drug use, alcohol consumption or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
Camp attendees are expected to be in proper Islamic attire at all times.
For the safety and consideration of all camp attendees, camp leaders and staff must be obeyed at all times.
Meals will be provided from August 18th to August 22nd, 2020. All other meals (i.e. for traveling to the Camp) must be brought or purchased.
A variety of snacks will also be provided during the days.
If you have any allergies or dietary concerns, please note it in your application.
NYM Ink and Camp Sunnah staff and volunteers are in no way responsible or liable for any items you bring to the camp. This includes items that are lost, damaged or stolen. Please do not bring anything expensive or of value to the camp.
Cell phones are prohibited from being used at the camp. You can bring cell phones to the camp, but it must be turned into a camp counselor/leader prior to entry onto the travel vans. Phones will be returned upon departure from the camp.
Phone numbers will be provided for relatives to contact you during the camp, and everyone will have the ability to call home/relatives informing them of their safe arrival.
Cameras, both still and video, are not permitted in the camp. Designated camp leaders will take pictures for camp attendees, and will be made available on the Camp Sunnah online forum. This forum is private, only accessible by Camp Sunnah attendees.
Tablets, Smartwatches, MP3 Players, Laptops and other electronics are not permitted in the camp. There will be no need for these items during the duration of the camp.
Camp attendees are responsible to bring their own personal toiletries, change of clothes, and items on the Suggested Items to Bring list.
While participating, participants may be exposed to certain risks. These risks include, but are not limited to the COVID-19 pandemic, accident and/or sickness without readily available medical facilities, and the forces of nature. By submitting the applications, you acknowledge and assume these risks.
Participants in Camp Sunnah waive any liability against NYM Ink and its volunteers/employees for any injury, loss, damage, accident, expense or delay caused by or related to means of transportation, lodging or camp participation. You understand that you are traveling and attending under your own responsibility (if a minor, the parents or guardian assumes this responsibility) and release NYM Ink and its volunteers/employees from any liability related to health and safety.
NYM Ink shall be responsible for providing the services outlined. In the event that the services and accommodation outlined cannot be provided due to causes beyond the control of NYM Ink and camp staff, all efforts will be made to provide comparable services and accommodation.
NYM Ink reserves the right to modify, amend or supplement these terms and conditions at its discretion.
NYM Ink reserves the right to refuse to serve, to cancel and/or terminate participation for any person who fails to comply with the terms and conditions of the camp, or for any other reason deemed necessary, in the sole discretion of NYM Ink and camp organizers, without refund. NYM Ink also reserve the right, without escort and without refund, to send home any participant who violates the terms and conditions stated above. The return trip will be at the expense of the participant.
